Year 9 Spanish Vokis
Posted on 15. May, 2010 by Mr Picardo in Español, Year 9
The boys in Year 9 have been working hard learning to describe their homes in Spanish and have been encouraged to begin to give opinions using porque, which means because. Below is some of their excellent work. Enjoy!
Further task for the boys: Please listen carefully to one of these Vokis (not your own) and leave a comment on this post about quality of pronunciation, range of vocabulary and grammatical accuracy. Always remember to be nice in your comments: mention at least two things they have done well and one thing that they could improve.

I enjoyed viewing these. Well done to all in Year 9 involved. Whilst I can’t pretend that I understood every word, this reflects more on the fact that I didn’t study Spanish than your efforts. It is good to see you practising your language skills in this way.

Well done adam, i really enjoyed your voky, it flowed very well and was very entertaining, the sentance links were particular;y good. That perfomance was faultless

good length and well phrased with some long sentences. The only criticism is that i think that the pronuctiation could have been better and perhaps less pauses and if it was a bit more fluent that would have made it excellent. but on the whole well done sam!

It was very good and everuthing was included. Also your pronunctuation was very good but you could of varied your sentence structure, instead of saying what you have in a list.

Ryan S-I really enjoyed your voki as it was entertaining and contained a wide range of vocabluary. Your pronounciation was generally good but occaisionally it was under standard, for example when you said cocina.

Laurence i thought your pronounciation was very nearly perfect and your sentence structure was very varied. i would slow down a little bit in future because i beleive that would perfect it.

sid i liked your voki as you prononouced the numbers well. Yoo managed to describe a lot of rooms in your voki and also gave a good opinion. However you pronounced the ‘h’ in the word habitaciones, overall all words were well pronounced

Sam:
I thought that yours was very good. Your pronunciation of j’s was very good in ‘jardin’ and ‘garaje’.
I also like the content because you descirbed a lot of your rooms.
However, in cocina, you said the second c like a k, when it should sound like a thi.

Laurence, I liked how you used a wide range of vocabulary and you also corrected yourself when you said ‘pequeño’ wrong. However there is still room for improvement in the pronunciation you were using. Most of it was very accurate. Well done.

Great voki Roshan,
Good range of vocab and grammar but the pronunciation could be improved like ‘cocina’

@Max
The sentences were appropriately complex and the whole paragraph had a very good length to it. The pronunciation was excellent apart from ‘habitaciones’ where you pronounced the ‘h’.

Good voki Sid you pronounce the Spanish well and carefully. Although i think if you slowed down a little it would be much better

Laurence, I thought you described your house very well, with a range of vocabulary. Also, it was good that you corrected yourself when you made a slight pronunciation error. You could have possibly used more description in some places, but overall it was very good.

Luke:
I thought that you managed to ge tlots of details in and that you were very easy to understand. But I thought that some of your pronunciation was slightly inaccurate, like ‘antigua’ and ‘ciudad’.

Tim: your voki was very good in grammar, content and context. It used a wide range of vocabulary as well. You would benefit a bi more by slowing down as it will be clearer then. Still very good though

Good voki Tim, good pronunciation and there were hardly any stutters or stops.
However in places it was slightly to quick however it was not too quick.
