Languages Week – 20th to 24th June

Try your hand at a foreign language!
Something to look forward to after the examinations: High School boys will, for one week only, have the opportunity to engage their teachers in conversation in a foreign language.
Most High School staff remember enough French or German from their time as pupils to manage a “Guten Tag” or “Il fait beau aujourd’hui” in the corridor. A few are brushing up on, or learning from scratch, some Spanish; Year 7s will enjoy helping them untangle the harder bits! Several can speak more unusual languages such as Afrikaans, Catalan, Croatian or Swahili. Boys can expect a few lessons with a linguistic element (Science, History, Maths and Geography have so far come up with some ideas) as well as visits from Lovell House and Junior boys, themed menus at lunchtime and other events.
All departments and support staff are involved and we hope that all the boys will have a go too. Look out for posters and information on this page which will help you learn a smattering of Greek to try out on Mr Leutfeld or Italian to greet Mr Wilkinson with a buongiorno!
