Las ventajas y desventajas de internet – Año 12
Posted on 09. Feb, 2012 by Mr Picardo in AS, Español
The boys in our Lower 6th have produced these multimedia posters in which they explore the advantages and disadvantages of the internet in Spanish in preparation for their forthcoming examinations. Please do leave a comment for them and let them know what you think.
Further task for the boys: Please pick one of the posters below and read, watch and listen to all the information in the poster and then write a comment on this page outlining two things that you thought were really good and one thing that could be improved. Please don’t focus on the look of the poster, but rather in the accuracy of the Spanish and the quality of the content: Were all aspects covered? Was there depth of treatment?

aI really enjoyed reading and listening to you work which has some good examples of complex structures with the pieces being generally well structured in themselves.
Thomas P highlighted the main danger for me of living in a virtual world versus the real world. A couple of you mention fraud – very valid- but what about the fact that Facebook and Google use your details to tailor what you see to you, thereby deciding what you should consume? Isn’t that an issue?
That sounds like I am anti, I am not and overall I think you could all have been more positive about the immense benefits that the internet can bring, education, knowledge, uses in developing countries, eg communal computers to help kids to learn in Indian villages. You are on the way to some good grades if you put the time in. Listen to ‘el maestro’, he knows what he is talking about!

Peter H, I am impressed by your use of phrases to expand on ideas eg. ”el peligro es que”, ”sino que también” and ”por eso” .
However, I think you could’ve used a more varied vocabulary en vez de palabras like ”malo” and ”peligro”. Instead perhaps use eg. ”lo peor”
Overall, however, the language was perfect, without mistakes.

Miguelito, you have made some very relevant points, I particularly like your choice of video and elegant constructions such as ‘hay aquellos que podrían ser considerados adictos…’.
However, I have identified a mistake in that you wrote ‘los noticias’, the correction here being ‘las’ in place of ‘los’. I also noticed the slight spelling error in ‘trastronos’. Admittedly these are only minor mistakes although I would still like to see a wider range of tenses and more delicate constructions.

Faris,

Well done Farris on using a variety of linguistic structures such as the object pronoun in ‘aprovecharlos’ and the conditional ‘podría’. Moreover,I thought that your openings were nicely varied with the phrase’al nivel emocional’ and the rhetorical question being particularly expressive.
I can’t quite grasp though the literary sense of the sentence beginning with ‘Lo fundamental evitar que’ so perhaps give it a look over and tell me if it’s just me not getting it. Also I don’t think that you need to use the subjunctive of ser in the places where you’ve used it.
Note to site moderator – Perhaps update captcha to re-captcha? In recaptcha when people type in the words in the box they are also simultaneously digitizing literary texts for online reading.

Hari, i was particularly impressed with your use of the imperfect subjunctive followed by the conditional : ‘si no tuvieras … sería’. This a very good way of leading into your idea, which you have followed through by developing and applyign depth of treatment.
Likewise you have also included nice phrases such as ‘por otro lado’ and ‘a pesar de que’ which allow you to express an opnion and provide both negatives and postives.
Although i couldn’t find many errors, i still would have liked to see more variety in verb tenses.

I like how you have used phrases such as “el mayor peligro” and “el problema mas grave” in order to show which points you think are the most dangerous. Also, I like how you have developed your points further, using linking words such as “sin que” and “por desgracia” to add more detail to your work.
However, I think you could further improve your work if you use a larger variety of tenses into your work. Although on this piece it is quite hard to do this, I think it would make your work a lot better.
